ABOUT
About MindLens Psychology Australia
For more than 10 years, Susan Rudnick has delivered psychological care for families, couples and individuals through Relationships Australia, Catholic Care and Open Arms.
Developing perinatal and post-natal skills at Tresillian in Sydney, Susan works closely with Gidget Foundation Australia to support the emotional wellbeing of new and expectant parents across the country. She’s also a member of the Member of the APS Perinatal and Infant Mental Health Interest Group and the APS Trauma and Psychology Interest Group. Susan has a special interest on how the effects of traumatic stress influence affect regulation, adversely impact interpersonal relationships and rupture parenting attachment.
During 2020 when demand for psychological support peaked, Susan started delivering online sessions. MindLens Psychology operates exclusively via telehealth making us an accessible, convenient option for clients across Australia, while still delivering safe, effective care.
How MindLens Psychology was started
Devastated by the sudden death of her oldest son Nathan at 23 months of age, Susan experienced profound emotional turmoil and indescribable pain confronting this tragedy five weeks before the birth of her second son. Channelling her grief, initially via parent advocacy, Susan was driven to do more to help others work through trauma, pain and loss.
Altruistic grief eventually led her to psychology, helping her become a trauma-informed clinician. Today, she is dedicated to helping more people access mental health support, regardless of their situation. Providing psychological services via telehealth gives her the opportunity to help others work through their pain, as she did. Susan firmly believes that when confronted with unbearable loss, you don’t have to be consumed by darkness.
MindLens Psychology Australia is a reminder that opportunities for post traumatic growth, and fostering resilience are born out of pain and adversity and the myriad of life’s challenges. Outside of MindLens, Susan is a parent to three vibrant young adult sons and a dedicated partner, navigating the chaos of everyday contemporary life.
